The Client
Cancer Research UK is the world’s largest charity dedicated to saving lives through research. Their vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
The Campaign
The assignment was to build a brand-new Bristol Board who would play a major role in raising funds for high-level science projects within Bristol. The roles included Chair, Treasurer and multiple Board members.
With a focus on fundraising, we were recruiting for ambitious and tenacious candidates with backgrounds ranging from business, finance, legal and marketing. It was essential for candidates to have excellent business networks that could be leveraged for the benefit of the charity.
Our Approach
We adopted a thorough screening process to enable us to fully assess each candidate’s experience, background, and soft and hard skills against the search criteria.
The Challenge
Due to this being an entirely new board build there was a high volume of candidates to be screened. Our biggest challenge was ensuring that the shortlist covered each skillset whilst remaining diverse and well-balanced.
The Solution
At the outset, we requested an Expression on Interest from each prospective candidate. Our thorough screening process included in-depth telephone interviews and face-to-face meetings.
Candidates were invited to visit the research facilities to meet the scientists and other potential board members to assess their fit.
Our Charity Recruitment Team were heavily involved throughout the campaign to aid decision making.
