The Challenge

We are assigned to a new Deputy Chair of the Board of Trustees and one Lay Trustee. The posts were to be appointed on a voluntary basis and will work closely with the Chief Executive, the Senior Management Team and the Board of Trustees.

Our Head of Charity Practice, Sandy Hinks, searched for candidates who would be able to demonstrate leadership and interpersonal soft skills, whilst assessing utilising their extensive networks and search methodologies. Using a mix of and source high calibre individuals who can contribute to the strategic direction, management and financial governance as well as making sure The SU achieve their vision of the best student life.

Our Offering

Moon Executive Search obtained expressions of interests and CV’s from prospective candidates, focusing on individuals with a strong Cornish network that can be leveraged to benefit the board and the students. Sandy ensured that the candidates that showed a deep appreciation for the university as well as the strength and diversity of the student members.

Searching for the roles of Deputy Chair and a trustee brought a fascinating pool of potential candidates that showed great passion regarding promoting the interests and welfare of the students as well as recognising the importance of providing representation, social and cultural activities whilst at university.

Our Solution

Sandy was responsible for contacting potential candidates for reach out responses, screening the candidates, conducting first interviews, and managing the communication channels, right through to offer and acceptance. We were pleased to present a very broad-ranging shortlist covering the assigned areas of interest, and as a result, we successfully brought in Trustees from a range of areas that the University required. Moon Executive Search are happy to confirm that the Board agreed to appoint Kevin Werry as the Deputy Chair and Julian Waring as the Lay Trustee.
