Empire Fighting Chance seeks Head of Delivery

Empire Fighting Chance combines non-contact boxing with intensive personal support, challenging and inspiring young people to realise their unique potential. Originally a small boxing project, they have evolved into a national charity dedicated to combating the destructive effects of inequality on young lives. Through a pioneering blend of boxing and psychology, they directly support 3,500 young people annually, transforming their thinking and behaviour. Despite facing chronic adversity, these young people are achieving remarkable outcomes, including returning to school, leaving gangs, building positive relationships, securing employment, and experiencing improved health and happiness.

In March 2022, Empire partnered with England Boxing, amplifying their impact through amateur boxing clubs. The Charity trains local boxing clubs to deliver Empire programmes in their communities. These clubs have supported 11,000 young people and raised over £1.5 million in funding. They also work with local authorities in South Wales, helping replicate the Empire model in deprived neighbourhoods across the region.

The organisation has ambitious goals for the future. They aim to expand their reach to more young people by increasing their network of trained partners both domestically and internationally. Additionally, they plan to play a more active role in supporting disadvantaged communities in Bristol through investment and collaboration. To further their mission, Empire will establish a Global Center of Excellence in Bristol. This centre will serve as a hub for innovation, learning, evidence gathering, and knowledge sharing with others working to improve young people's lives. Ultimately, the Charity seeks to develop globally recognised approaches that can make a significant and lasting impact on young people's lives, while also achieving their maximum potential in Bristol.

Empire are seeking a Head of Delivery to help achieve these goals. The Head of Delivery will lead the implementation and development of Empire’s programmes, instilling a culture of high performance and continuous learning. They will establish means to monitor and strengthen the different elements of Empire’s methodology and classify this model to ease sharing with other organisations. Furthermore, the Head of Delivery will provide day-to-day management and oversight, ensuring all operations are run effectively. They will develop the leadership qualities of managers, and expand partnerships in Bristol and beyond to increase the Charity’s impact.

The successful candidate will be an analytical and critical thinker, with excellent problem-solving skills. They will have experience in a senior management role, with a track record of developing and strengthening both programmes and personnel. The Head of Delivery will possess exceptional interpersonal skills, inspiring others and cultivating a culture of high performance. Experience working with young people is highly desirable, as is non-profit or education experience and an understanding of youth development through sport.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the fight for young people - helping them realise their full potential and live safe, healthy and happy lives.
