(Closed) SHAL Housing Seeks Non-Executive Directors

SHAL Housing is a not-for-profit community housing association with a proud history of providing safe, warm, and affordable homes to those in need across Somerset. With approximately 770 homes under management, SHAL is dedicated to supporting individuals and families who are homeless or in housing need, while striving for sustainability and community well-being.

The organisation is currently seeking to recruit up to five new Non-Executive Directors to join its board, including a Chair for the Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee. This recruitment comes at a pivotal time as SHAL evolves and welcomes fresh perspectives to its board.

As a Non-Executive Director, you will bring your unique professional experience to the table, offering insights into corporate governance, risk management, and strategy. You will work closely with SHAL’s executive team to guide the organisation’s strategic direction and ensure it remains a robust, financially sound business committed to its community.

We are particularly keen to receive applications from people who are able to contribute in relation to one or more of the following areas: 

  • Lived experience of social housing

  • Financial management

  • Housing management

  • Risk management

  • Governance

  • Resident involvement

  • Welfare benefits

  • Treasury management

  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Especially individuals with skills in relation to financial and risk management for the role of Chair for our Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
