Sight Research UK aims to bring forward the day when sight loss and blindness are a thing of the past. A community of supporters, researchers, patients, and healthcare professionals work together towards a shared goal of funding pioneering research – research that can translate the most promising scientific findings into new solutions for patients, at the fastest possible rate.

The charity began as a Bristol-based research centre in 1986, focusing on projects to improve treatment for corneal eye conditions, enabling the establishment of the UK's first Corneal Transplant Service. Since then, they have grown from strength to strength.

After investing nearly £18 million in research projects, Sight Research UK have brought scientists ever closer to answering the fundamental questions about eye health and how eye disease develops. Today, they support leading ophthalmology centres, within universities and hospitals in the UK, covering all eye conditions in children and adults.

Their mission is to fund research to provide new and more effective solutions for patients, be it in diagnosis, prevention, or treatment. They are funded entirely from voluntary donations.

They require accomplished Trustees to ensure the charity is run to the best of its ability.

The Board of Trustees brings a breadth of skill and experience to the organisation. They oversee the charity’s governance and support the CEO in delivering an ambitious research strategy - turning science into sight.

They are looking for two Trustees who are passionate about medical research advancement, who thrive on teamwork and relish an exciting challenge. As a Trustee, you will be a member of the Charity's governing body, responsible for ensuring that the Charity is effectively and efficiently run and that their objectives are met. You will play a vital role in the success of the Charity, working alongside the other Trustees and the CEO to provide strategic direction and support for the Charity's activiti

Sight Research UK is seeking a finance expert, who can bring a strategic vision to the organisation through analytical skills and wise judgement. They also require a legal expert with a background in charity law, to advise on regulatory matters and assess potential legal risks.
