St Pauls Carnival CIC selected Moon Executive Search to conduct a search campaign to source a new Executive Director after the famous carnival returned from a two-year break.
The Campaign
We ran the campaign by conducting a complex national and international search, looking for an exceptional individual who possessed the experience and skill set necessary to work in a highly challenging and demanding role. They required diplomatic and relationship building skills, the gravitas to operate with colleagues at a senior level, have an artistic sense of direction and experience of managing events.

Our Approach
We reached out to candidates with experience in leadership, finance, fundraising and events and had strong understanding of community, arts, heritage, culture and if possible, the carnival sector. The candidate had to be an effective communicator and be able to handle the pressure of planning and delivering a major event whilst maintaining relationships with multiple stakeholders.
The Challenge
The requirements for the role were specific and varied. The carnival was only a few months away and the organising of the event was already in process, so it was extremely important that we made the appointment in a timely manner.
The Solution
At the outset, we requested an Expression on Interest from each prospective candidate. Our thorough screening process included in-depth telephone interviews and face-to-face meetings. Candidates were invited to visit the research facilities to meet the scientists and other potential board members to assess their fit.
The board were very happy with the candidates put forward by Moon Executive Search and at the end of a thorough process were pleased to be able to offer the position to LaToyah McAllister-Jones who was a fantastic candidate for the role and she impressed at interview.
