A fantastic opportunity to join Cathedral Schools Trust as its new Chair of Trustees.
Cathedral Schools Trust (CST) was established in 2016 as a multi-academy trust (MAT) that serves a diverse range of schools in the Bristol area. Over a period of five years CST has grown to become a MAT of 9 schools, now teaching 5000 + pupils and with a teaching staff of over 500. Turnover is £24m.
The Chair will be responsible for:
Supporting the Executive Principal in ensuring clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction.
Being responsible with the CST Board of Trustees and CST Executive for good governance within CST as a Mixed MAT.
Reporting to the Board of Members as required.
Holding the Executive Principal and executive leaders to account for the educational performance and the operation of the organisation, and interacting with Ofsted and other agencies as required.
Managing the Executive Principal in overseeing the effective and efficient performance management of staff.
Managing and supporting the Executive Principal in overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure money is well spent.
Supporting the CST Executive leaders and the Board in recruitment of key appointments as and when required.
Acting as an ambassador for the Trust in external forums e.g. with other Chairs of Trusts and MATs in the South West and the Department of Education and Regional Schools Commissioner.
Further information on the current Trustees and governance structures is available on our website.
We would be interested to talk to candidates from a range of business backgrounds with a passion for education and, where possible, networks covering primary, secondary, further and higher education sectors as well as community groups and social enterprises.
This role is unremunerated and the total time commitment each year is estimated to be in the region of 3 days a month. Trustee meetings are held generally during working hours (Monday-Friday, 9am -6pm).
