(Closed) Futura Learning Partnership seeks new Trustee
Time commitments:
Effective preparation and attendance at six formal meetings of the Board.
Three to four formal meetings of the committee (plus occasional panels, working groups and any special meetings).
Attendance at the Trust’s AGM, annual strategy day, governance development programme events and related training activities.
Occasional, pre-arranged learning visits to the Trust’s academies.
Futura is a leading multi-academy trust comprising of more than 12,000 pupils and employing 1,500 staff in 27 schools across Bath, Bristol, Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
The Trust provides central services, such as school improvement, finance, HR, procurement, IT, catering, and communications. By delivering these services schools are freed up to focus on children’s education and welfare.

Futura are now looking to appoint a highly skilled and motivated trustee.
Trustees are vital in helping Futura ensure high-quality education for every child in their care. Meeting regularly to oversee and guide Futura’s work, trustees will clarify strategic direction, hold executive leaders accountable, and oversee financial performance. Some main responsibilities are listed below:
To ensure that the Trust is managed efficiently, effectively and in line with requirements of the law, constitution, regulation, and best practice.
To develop the strategies and policies that guide the Trust and share in the Trust’s vision.
To ensure objectives are set and that both educational and financial performance are monitored accordingly.
To regularly attend meetings of the Board of Trustees and other committees.
Preferentially, candidates will have a professional legal background with strong interest in education. However, candidates may also bring auditing and compliance experience ranging from organisational structure, assets, contractual arrangements, disputes, policies, and systems.
Other desirable attributes include:
Experience of working on a committee.
Sound knowledge or experience of governance in the education and/or charity sectors.
Strong business and financial acumen.
Highly developed, problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
The ability to build strong working relationships.
