The company is seeking an Associate Director of Communications and Engagement to develop and implement a world-class communications strategy. The internal strategy will engage staff and stakeholders, while the external strategy will support the Met Office’s purpose and enhance its reputation.
The Associate Director will lead a team of communications professionals who cover media relations, campaigns, social media, content creation, brand management, crisis communications, internal communications, and employee engagement. They will act as the lead advisor to the Chief Executive and wider leadership team on all aspects of communications and media handling, including mitigating risks and maximising opportunities.
The successful candidate will have significant experience delivering communications strategies in complex organisations, preferably within scientific institutions or the public sector. They will be skilled in managing high-profile media relations, with the ability to provide influential advice to senior leaders. Furthermore, the Associate Director will have demonstrable leadership experience, a track record of motivating multifaceted communications teams, and excellent stakeholder management skills.
