Every year Deloitte’s Tech Trends report garners attention from across the business world by tracking and examining emergent trends that promise to define a new year of invention, innovation, and disruption.

Gemma Wilks, Head of IT Practice for Moon Executive Search, attended the webinar for the launch of this year’s report. Now in its 14th year, the report identified advancements across six macro forces consequential to business transformation, with “trust” a reoccurring theme, as businesses recognise the importance of user confidence in their adoption and impact.

“It was great to attend the webinar this year, it’s a great way to bookend the year and look forward to the next. As tech recruiters, we have to keep our fingers on the pulse as much as anyone so that we’re always doing our best to prepare our clients for the future”.

“So glad to see trust as a central theme, as it’s something my clients and candidates increasingly care about. In rapid growth spaces it can sometimes go forgotten, so it is fantastic to see accountability and integrity front and centre as it’s so central to how we conduct ourselves at Moon. Lots to digest from a talent and recruitment perspective too, interesting to see research confirming what we know very well – that in this space, flexibility is king.”

The 6 areas of focus in this year’s report are:

Interaction - Through the glass: Immersive internet for the enterprise –  AI ,VR & Metaverse, as enablers for a more immersive internet – training, experiences, and  business utility.

Information - Opening up to AI: Learning to trust our AI colleagues – explores the need for human and AI collaboration, more transparency to see ‘why’ AI works.

Computation - Above the clouds: Taming multi-cloud chaos- suggests there is a need for simple observability, a “super cloud”, to cut through the chaos, keeping it more simplistic.

Flexibility, the best ability: Reimagining the tech workforce- awareness that emerging tech lasts c2.5 years, so there is a need to curate and cultivate high performers, to enable them to stay on top, creating rather than competing for talent.

Cyber & Trust - In us we trust: Decentralized architectures and ecosystems – continued growth in business confidence in blockchain and digital assets, with a need to put more trust in decentralized architectures and ecosystems centred on blockchain and digital assets.

Core Modernisation - Connect and extend: Mainframe modernization hits its stride - acceleration in mainframe modernisation, reliance on middleware to link core systems to next-generation computing technologies - ‘Supercomputers’
