Founded in 1991, Stand Against Racism & Inequality (SARI), is a Bristol-based charity, that provides free and confidential support for anyone who is a victim of hate crime across Avon and Somerset. SARI responds to 800+ referrals a year and runs a casework service, opening and supporting victims on about 350 new cases a year. SARI delivers training to both public, voluntary, and private organisations, offers a consultancy service (on issues relating to equality, diversity, inclusion, hate crime, and cultural competency), and delivers educational and community cohesion-related activities – all designed to promote safer, more respectful, and equitable communities.

They are now seeking a Head of Finance, HR & Resources to lead them through an exciting and dynamic time. The candidate will be critical to the efficient and effective management of organisational, financial, HR, and facilities systems and processes that enable SARI to deliver excellence for victims of hate crime and to their partner agencies and contractors. The candidate will be expected to implement improvements and changes where required and lead the financial management of all contracts, service level agreements, and funding agreements with SARI. Some of their responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the financial management and control of bank accounts and accounting systems.

  • Ensuring appropriate staffing capacity and capability and developing HR policies and processes.

  • Managing ongoing improvement of SARI as a positive working environment including maximising opportunities for income generation via fundraising and managing relationships with donors   

  • Liaising with relevant staff to ensure that agreed operational reports are completed within set timelines.

  • Supporting the CEO to service SARI’s Board of Trustees and to contribute to other related duties.

SARI is looking for someone dedicated and dynamic with an excellent eye for detail, and a commitment to the charity’s Vision and Values. The successful candidate will have the versatility to deliver excellence in the broad spectrum of requirements of this post. Ideally, they will have experience with financial management and a thorough knowledge of online accounting systems, setting budgets, overseeing purchasing, and seeking cost efficiencies. They will have good HR knowledge, an ability to manage complaints, knowledge of dealing with GDPR and Health and Safety processes, building maintenance, and training providers for staff. With strong leadership qualities to manage a diverse team, the candidate will have the resilience and decisiveness needed to navigate a complex and rapidly changing environment.
