(Closed) SHAL Housing seeks CEO

Are you looking for a rewarding and fulfilling CEO opportunity?

SHAL Housing is a nonprofit community housing association with nearly 800 homes across Somerset. They deliver safe, warm and affordable homes, alongside quality services, for families and individuals who are homeless or in housing need. They’re seeking a Chief Executive Officer to oversee the company’s evolution.

The organisation strongly values transparency, accountability and compassion, placing tenants at the heart of their operations. Their overall mission is to:

  •  Invest well in existing and new homes

  • Build strong relationships with tenants

  • Use data and new technologies to support customer services and build business resilience

  • Empower the SHAL community to make decisions and drive positive change

Housing associations are under increasing pressure as more people are priced out of the private housing sector. Despite being a relatively small housing association, SHAL have big plans to harness their potential. This includes developing new homes, improving their existing properties, and partnering with their renters to create a sustainable community. The incoming CEO will oversee this stage of the SHAL journey.

As Chief Executive, you will be responsible for the organisation’s performance and success. You will integrate SHAL’s development capacity into the strategic asset management framework - ensuring all homes are affordable and environmentally sustainable. Your role will involve implementing a business vision aligned with short and long-term objectives, based on tenant priorities and financial sustainability. Furthermore, you will inspire SHAL’s employees and management team, maintaining operational excellence across all areas of the business.

To succeed in this role, you’ll be an effective communicator, who can lead and motivate others and support their personal development. SHAL hope to hear from independent thinkers with the ability to develop and implement strategies in a regulated environment. The successful candidate will have experience managing competing financial pressures and utilising data for decision-making.

If you're passionate about positively impacting the lives of Somerset residents, this role could be a perfect fit.
