●     Most meetings are held at head office in Bristol, but the Board usually visits all 5 sites in rotation.

●     Sub-committee meetings can be attended remotely.

100 years old this year, St Monica Trust is guided by the vision and passion of its founder, Dame Monica Wills. Dame Monica wanted to create “a purpose-built haven” for those unable to look after themselves.

St Monica Trust now has five care villages, all of which are purpose built to the highest standards. Each is a vibrant community of older people, mostly living independently in their own flats. Four of them include care homes with specialist dementia facilities.

They support residents who cannot fund themselves and offer all residents dedicated pastoral care. Their endowment also allows them to support numerous charitable and not for profit organisations in Greater Bristol, which offer services to older people and share their values and mission.

The Trust’s Trustees apply unique skills, passion and experience to ensure their strategy prioritises the needs of its residents, customers, beneficiaries and 1500 staff and volunteers.

The Board of Trustees, known as St Monica Trust Council, plays a vital role in progressing the Trust’s future ambitions, such as:

●     Driving innovation in the care of older people,

●     Supporting local community organisations,

●     Providing more affordable extra care housing

●     Reaching broader sections of Greater Bristol’s diverse population.

They are seeking two Trustees to join the Board. One Trustee will be appointed on behalf of the Bishop of Gloucester. They should have an in-depth knowledge of elderly social care, and experience in the operational, risk and regulatory aspects of care provision.

Another Trustee will be appointed on behalf of St Monica Trust Council. This individual may have a background in politics or academia, ideally delivering social and economic change. Alternatively, they could have experience in a charitable foundation or institution focussed on developing social policy and/or innovating service delivery.

As part of the Board of Trustees, their responsibilities will include working closely with the Executive team to provide strategic leadership for the charity, setting goals and reviewing progress and outcomes.

If you’re passionate about elderly social care and fit the desired criteria, please get in touch.
