The St Monica Trust, a Bristol-based charity founded in 1925, creates thriving communities for older individuals. Their retirement villages and care homes are renowned for exceptional care and support, a reputation earned through years of dedicated service.

At the heart of their philosophy are the "three Cs": Connection, Contribution, and Choice. These principles guide their approach, empowering residents to exercise choice, build meaningful relationships and feel valued.

The Trust operates five state-of-the-art care villages, each a vibrant community where older people can live independently in flats. Four of these villages also include care homes with specialised dementia facilities.

St Monica Trust are currently expanding The Chocolate Quarter village in Keynsham, adding 44 assisted living apartments. This development is part of their 10-year strategy to solidify their commitment to high-quality care and community support. The goals of this strategy were determined with consultation from over 1,300 residents and their family members, alongside staff, volunteers and other stakeholders.

To help achieve these objectives, the Charity is seeking a Director of Estates and Capital Developments. The Director will oversee the Trust's property portfolio, encompassing care homes and retirement villages across the South-West of England.

As Director of Estates and Capital Developments, you will be responsible for:

  • Optimising the Trust's real estate portfolio: Ensuring that property assets align with strategic goals and are managed effectively.

  • Overseeing capital projects: Leading the development of new buildings and properties, as well as the repurposing of existing space to meet current and future needs.

  • Delivering operational excellence: Ensuring efficient maintenance, gardening, and estate functions across the Trust, while continuously improving service quality to meet evolving customer expectations.

  • Adhering to regulations and sustainability targets: Complying with relevant regulations and contributing to the Trust's net-zero targets.

St Monica Trust hope to hear from strategic thinkers with senior leadership experience. The successful candidate will be a results-orientated individual, with a collaborative leadership style. They will hold membership to a professional body for estates or facilities management, alongside a NEBOSH certification or equivalent qualification.

The Director will have experience managing the estates and facilities of a complex organisation, including overseeing contractor management, property development, and project management. They will be adept at planning for longevity and sustainability. The ideal candidate would also have experience in health and social care or another service sector, however this is not mandatory.
