The European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) seeks its first Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) was established in 1962 and is now one of the largest and most well-regarded international scientific communities of paediatric endocrinologists, with over 1,500 members representing more than 100 countries worldwide.

ESPE has expanded significantly in recent years, increasing its educational and training activities, producing newsletters, webinars, and a wealth of e-learning content. The Society has also strengthened its collaborations with other paediatric societies, played a role in policy advocacy with the European Parliament, and developed thought leadership white papers.

This newly created Chief Executive Officer (CEO) role presents an exciting opportunity to build on this success, helping to shape ESPE’s future strategy and ensuring it remains at the forefront of paediatric endocrinology for years to come.

The CEO will work closely with the both the current and incoming ESPE President, the Treasurer, the ESPE Council, and the Strategic Finance Committee (SFC) to lead a growing organisation capable of delivering on its long-term vision.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic leadership and operational oversight to ensure ESPE’s continued development.

  • Acting as a key ambassador, fostering engagement with external stakeholders and networks.

  • Supporting the ESPE Council and committees to deliver their activities effectively.

Driving organisational change while maintaining ESPE’s reputation and impact.

We are seeking candidates with:

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a membership association, preferably in the medical field.

  • Experience working with committees and trustees of non-profit organisations.

  • A track record of successfully leading or significantly contributing to organisational development and change.

  • Strategic vision with the ability to translate ideas into actionable outcomes.

  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
