The Workforce Development Trust (WD Trust) is a group of sector specialists with over 50 years of experience supporting workforce development in the UK and internationally. The Trust incorporates Skills for Health, Skills for Justice, SFJ Awards, and People 1st International.

WD Trust, a charity governed by a board of trustees, delivers products and services that improve the workforce across a wide range of sectors through its subsidiary brands. Currently, the Trust provides a range of learning and training delivery across its constituent brands and services. This ranges from e-learning content and learning management systems to in-house delivery of assessor training for His Majesty’s Prisons and Probation Services, and customer care training (via their WorldHost brand) to corporate customers.

They are now seeking a Managing Director – Learning Solutions to lead their new Learning Solutions Division. This role is being introduced to build on and grow the current demand that WD Trust generates for learning and training services, and to provide high-quality blended learning to employers and individuals in their sectors.

Integrated working with WD Trust’s other divisions will be key to the success of the new Learning Solutions Division, providing an end-to-end service for organizations alongside their workforce consultancy services and their accredited awarding body, SFJ Awards.

As Managing Director of the new Learning Solutions Division, you will have key responsibility for business development and delivering both the top-line and bottom-line for the Division. You will develop the forward strategy for the Division, driving a customer acquisition strategy through the identification of emerging customer needs and the development and delivery of innovative, high-quality learning solutions.

As a member of the WD Trust group leadership team, the Managing Director – Learning Solutions will report to the CEO of the Trust and work within the Trust’s corporate governance framework.

For this role, we are seeking a senior candidate from the training and e-learning sector who can directly influence product development, client relationships, and new business opportunities. This is an outward-facing role, and we are looking for candidates who will lead this new business unit with full P&L responsibility.

The successful candidate will offer up-to-date technology knowledge and understand the impact of digitalisation and AI on the training sector. They must be abreast of market dynamics and trends and be on top of new initiatives. They and their team will sell blended in-person and online courses and constantly horizon-scan new opportunities around innovation, products, and trends.
