The West of England Sport Trust (Wesport) helps individuals and communities to be physically active and enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle. The Charity is the Active Partnership for the West of England, covering Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire, an area with a population of nearly 1.2 million. It supports organisations in improving the delivery of sports and physical activity initiatives across the region.
Wesport collaborates with a wide range of organisations, from Sport England and health authorities to small and micro-community groups. They increase opportunities and accessibility for physical activity, creating conditions wherever possible for people to move more. The organisation also advocates for long-term change, influencing decision-makers to reduce barriers and inequalities that prevent active lifestyles. Furthermore, Wesport provides leadership, expertise and resources to enhance the variety of sporting opportunities and promotes active lifestyles in educational environments.
The Trust is seeking a Strategic Lead for Marketing, Communications, and Insight (SLMCI) to drive organisational growth and achieve strategic objectives. The successful candidate will broaden Wesport’s knowledge network and help shape its future.
As SLMCI, your responsibilities will be diverse and challenging. You will collaborate across the Wesport team to embed impact measurement, evaluation and learning into projects and programmes. You’ll ensure Wesport’s website, social media and marketing channels continue to develop as they promote the Charity’s activities and highlight its impact. Moreover, you will analyse data and insights to help upskill the Wesport team and influence physical activity levels in the region.
The Strategic Lead will be an analytical thinker with excellent knowledge of impact measurement and evaluation practices. They will be able to collect and interpret high-quality data and use compelling narratives to demonstrate impact. The successful candidate will have experience leading insight and evaluation projects and building strong cross-sector relationships. Additionally, they will be skilled in communicating key information and organisational achievements through various tools and channels. Above all, the SLMCI will be passionate about Wesport’s values and helping improve lives through physical activity.
