Selwood Housing is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing quality, affordable housing in the South West of England. They develop, manage, and maintain a portfolio of over 7,000 homes, including both rental properties and shared ownership options.

With a focus on addressing the housing crisis, Selwood Housing aims to build an additional 1,700 affordable homes by 2034. Their surplus funds are reinvested into new housing developments, property maintenance, and community initiatives.

Customer engagement is a core value for Selwood Housing. Their support team consists of 300 local people who are passionate about helping and getting to know customers. Selwood prioritise repairs, safety, and environmental efficiency in their homes, and are committed to achieving high tenant satisfaction ratings. By delivering quality homes and services, they make a positive impact on the lives of their residents. The Charity is actively working to expand their affordable housing offerings, with 300 new homes in the pipeline.

To assist with these developments, they’re seeking a Chair for the Asset & Development Committee. The Chair will provide essential leadership to the Committee, ensuring it’s run effectively and efficiently. They will play a pivotal role in guiding the committee's discussions, aligning its activities with the organisation's strategic objectives, and ensuring decisions are made with appropriate oversight, transparency, and accountability.

The Chair is the primary liaison between the Committee and the Board of Directors, facilitating effective communication with the CEO, Senior Executives, and external stakeholders. Their strategic direction will ensure critical risks, opportunities, and performance issues are addressed.

Selwood Housing hopes to hear from candidates with experience as a Chair or Non-Executive Director within a regulated industry, such as social housing, property/asset management or non-profits. The successful individual will have strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate others – alongside knowledge of the financial management of charitable organisations. They will be committed to inclusion and passionate about providing quality, affordable housing for local communities.

Selwood makes a meaningful impact on communities in the South West. This is an exciting opportunity to guide the Charity through a period of growth and expansion.
