St Monica Trust seeks Director of People

  • Location: Cote Lane, Bristol, BS9 3UN.

  • Working arrangement: Hybrid - a minimum of three days per week on-site.

  • Salary: £100k + discretionary annual bonus.

  • Closing date: 16/05/2025.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of St Monica Trust, a Bristol charity that's been supporting older people since 1925. Known for exceptional care and support in their retirement villages and care homes, the Trust creates communities where their residents can thrive. They provide opportunities to enjoy treasured relationships, exercise choice and feel valued – known as their three Cs – Connection, Contribution, and Choice.

St Monica Trust's five purpose-built care villages offer residents "haven" environments, characterised by vibrant communities where older people enjoy independent living in their own flats. Four of these villages also include care homes with dedicated dementia support.

They are seeking a Director of People to lead the Trust’s people strategy and shape the organisational culture, ensuring it’s positive, inclusive and fosters high-performance. The successful candidate will oversee the People Directorate sub-departments, supporting employees at all levels to be engaged and aligned with the Trust’s strategic plan. They will create a workplace where staff flourish, enabling the organisation to attract, inspire, and retain passionate individuals. Furthermore, as a member of the Executive Team, the People Director will play a key role in collective decision-making.

The Trust are seeking candidates with the following credentials:

  • An accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), or a bachelor’s degree in human resources management, psychology, or a business-related subject.

  • Experience as a senior leader with evidence of strong strategic thinking skills and a results-oriented mindset.

  • Excellent knowledge of HR strategy and commercial insight, recruitment, engagement, cultural change, pay, reward and recognition, welfare, learning and development, HR systems and budgets.

  • Experience in developing and executing people strategy.

  • Knowledge of employment legislation and an understanding of regulations, accepted professional standards, policies and procedures (including legislation on data protection, the Equality Act and health and safety).

  • The ability to analyse and review HR data to identify trends.

  • Budget management skills.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop a forward-thinking people strategy and provide older people with the best experience of ageing.
